The Lord Jesus said, To do the will of My Father is My food and I have come from heaven not to do My will but to do the will of Him Who sent Me (John 6:38) and He said, My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will. (Matthew 26:39&Mark 14:36). From these verses, we ought to understand that our Lord Jesus do everything according to the will of His Father only. The verses, I and My Father are One (John 10:30) and Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father (John 14:9), have also confirmed the above statement. If we say, Christ did everything in His life according to the will of God the Father, only when He lived on this earth as seen by men, it is wrong. But we must understand that He has been doing His Father’s will from the time of His existence, that is before the creation of heavens and the earth and not only that, He will only do His Father’s will even after the end time of heavens and the earth.
Some examples regarding the above fact:
- He made the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the middle of Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9) so that man must fall in sin, and after man fell in sin and death, He was the One Who grieved for creating the man on earth (Genesis 6:7). These things He did, to fulfill His Father’s will that every man should enter the kingdom of God through Him and through the love of God in Christ Jesus.
- When David’s son was in sick, he fasted day and night for five days. But when his child was dead on the sixth day, he stopped fasting further and replied to those who asked about this, he said, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.’ But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.” (2 Samuel 12:16-23). Yes, our Lord will not answer immediately to all our prayers, but He will answer only according to the will of His Father.
- The above statement was confirmed by our Lord Jesus when He spoke the following verses. He said, Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21).
When we go through The Holy Bible, we can find many illustrations regarding this fact.We must know, as God the Father made everything through and by His only begotten Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He also made the salvation for mankind from sin and death only through His Son Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31) and made Him to be The King of kings and The Lord of lords Who only could give the everlasting life and The True Judge for The Judgment which will be taken place at the end time (Matthew 16:27, Revelation 22:13 & Matthew 25:31).
Finally, we are called by God the Father to receive the Spirit of Christ. When we receive the Spirit of His Son, we become the children of God because Lord Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God (Mark 1:11). That is, we must know that though we are His creation, not the children of God, God the Father Himself accept those, whosoever received the Spirit of Christ in their hearts, as His children (John 1:12).
These are the seven steps to understand spiritually our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Moreover, when we come to understand our Lord Jesus, we must know and understand clearly about His Father and The Holy Spirit. Because when we lead our life, having the Spirit of Christ in our heart, we may come across many temptations. In such times of temptations, God the Father Himself comes and dwells in our heart in the form of Holy Spirit or Comforter and makes us to lead our life in the path of Christ Jesus. So, it is very important to understand what the form and shape of God the Father would be and His Will in the light of The Word of God.
