When our Lord Jesus lived in this world as seen by men, a man came to Him and asked, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment of the law?” and Jesus replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with your entire mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Laws and Prophesies.” (Matthew 22:36-39 and Mark 12:28-31). That is, according to the first three commandments of God, we are directed or ordered to love our Lord and the remaining seven tells us to love others as we love ourselves. (Exodus 20:1-17) What do we infer from this? This tells basically and fundamentally, we should love The Father and His only begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ. That is, we are expected to have faith in God the Father and also have faith in our Lord Jesus as well. (John 14:1, 1 John 5:5).
The Holy Bible tells everyman is a sinner by birth or by nature and not capable of doing good deeds or deeds of love. (Psalm 51:5; 1 John 1:8-10: Rom 5:8; Rom 3:23). As we do not possess love by nature, we can acquire love through the faith in Christ Jesus, believing that
He is The King of kings and The Lord of lords Who will come again and take us to be with Him that we also may be Where He is (John 14:3) and could lead a pleasing life in the sight of God the Father (Rom 3:22).
He is the Lamb of God Who gave Himself as the atoning sacrifice which cleanses all our sins, not only our sins but the sins of the entire world (Mark 2:10; John 1;36)
He is The Immanuel Who gives us The Holy Spirit to lead us in the path of righteousness (Mark 1:8; 1 John 2:27) and finally
He is the Righteous One who speaks to the Father in our defense (1 John 2:1)
He is the only begotten Son of God the Father (Matthew 27:54; Luke 1:32)
“It is impossible to please God without faith” said Paul, an apostle of Christ in Spirit in the book of Hebrews chapter 11:6. Jesus Christ also said, “I am The Resurrection and The Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.” (John 11:25 & 26). So, this kind of faith alone will certainly unite us with God (Galatians 2:15, Rom 14:23).
Faith is the best among all gifts given by God to mankind. God alone through His Son our Lord Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrew 12:1). God the Father wants everybody to have this kind of faith and grow in it (Matthew 24:13), because only through faith, by the grace of God, we get everything including The Spirit of God and moreover we get the everlasting life and the life in heaven. Therefore, the Holy Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8). So, to have this kind of faith we should know very clearly about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:12 saying, “I know Whom I have believed”, we should know our Lord not only by our spirit but also by correct understanding and truth.
If we do not have the knowledge about this true faith, the wrath of God the Father will come upon us undoubtedly (John 3:35 &36). Therefore, let us see in the following pages, how we could understand our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Who is the Author and Finisher of our faith through the Word of God by the help of The Holy Spirit.
